Prometheus Medical have a FREC 3 course running next week and there are a few spaces available. This course exceeds “First Aid” and will take your skills to “First Responder” level, meaning you will have an enhanced level of medical capability to deal with a casualty in a trauma or medical emergency.

Becky Morpeth, Senior Training Coordinator, says, “We always get great feedback from people who have attended the FREC 3 course, and their usual comment is that we exceed expectations in our delivery. This is due to our excellent faculty, who are all medically current clinicians, that can make each medical aspect relatable with scenarios drawn directly from their own experience.”

Students who attend the course will experience classroom-based learning, as well as scenario-based learning as seen in the photo. Call for details: 01568 613942 or email: rebeccam@safeguardmedical.com

As well as running many onsite courses we now use Webex for our virtual training courses.

Here are tips for delivering a successful virtual IT course.

Its split into 3 sections

  1. Equipment
  2. Plan the course
  3. Techniques to enhance the training

Equipment

We use:

A good quality microphone, an external web cam positioned centrally on the top of the monitor, good speakers and a LED ring light with a tripod facing the presenter.

A trainee having poor equipment leads to a poorer training experience.

Planning the course

Smaller group sizes of between 4 and 6 are preferable especially when screen sharing is so important.

Send out course notes, exercise files and Webex invites well in advance and re-check they have been received and understood. Maybe engage in a test Webex session too.

Our courses always have 3 breaks especially important for virtual training when trainees are sitting focussing on several windows on their laptop.

Techniques to enhance the training

During the course include all the trainees by asking each review questions to affirm learning.

Use the chat window and encourage use of it for the audience too.

Use breakout rooms for problem solving exercises. We train in Excel and it is a great benefit to pair up people for some problem solving exercises.

Use feedback and review questions at the end of each session.

Have some fun and share experiences.

TDM, a tech and digital apprenticeship training provider, is calling on the region to enhance and leverage their digital marketing capabilities through the launch of their Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeship.

TDM specialises in the delivery of genuinely work-based learning via its apprenticeship programmes. They work with many businesses across the region using apprenticeships to kick-start and develop tech and digital careers.

Degree Apprenticeships are not new to TDM as they already offer the hugely successful Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton.

“We have several different Level 3 and 4  apprenticeships and, it makes sense to offer a progression pathway for the apprentices and businesses,” said Derrin Kent, Managing Director, TDM.

“Level 3 apprenticeships give learners the confidence to apply new skills and knowledge in their workplace. The level 6 degree apprenticeship builds on this and enables apprentices to become leaders in the workplace; by giving them the skills and knowledge to initiate and influence at a strategic level. We are proud to be partnering with the University of Wolverhampton again with the new Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeship.”

The timing of the launch comes at a time when Digital Marketing skills are highly sought after.

“The world is going through a digital transformation that has accelerated in 2020 for obvious reasons, with more customers going online to shop and access services,” said David Tomkins, Marketing and Engagement Manager, TDM.

“Businesses must respond to this change in customer behaviour and compete online for customers’ attention, making effective use of digital marketing to cut through the noise and stand out.”

There are currently 6 apprentices who have started the Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeship and David Tomkins expects it to grow.

“Businesses are now thinking more strategically about their digital marketing. They are putting their apprentices who completed Level 3 on to the Level 6 programme and we forecast this trend to continue.”

If you or your business are interested in finding out more about tech and digital apprenticeships you can call TDM on 0333 10 100 40 or visit tdm.co.uk.
